You missed the GT40 replicas. There is a company in Australia that makes a particularly good kit. Because they would be classed as a brand new car here and that means it has to pass modern build and emission standards. They do all the hard work designing the body and chassis to comply and they have it set up for LS motors or Ford mod motors to pass current emmision laws. Not sure if they still do it but they had a V8 conversion fully engineered and road legal for a Mazda MX5/Miata.

Hey james, i know you probably wont read this but i want to say it anyway. so i know toyotas are more common and easy to get parts for in USA but im still a little shocked you wouldnt use the Alfa Romeo V6 for the STR, have you heard them? im from the UK and we all have the same opinion of small Italian cars, they are a nightmare for reliability where as small Japanese is the opposite. well to be honest I hate both and its all besides the point because I can buy an Alfa Romeo Brera for like $6000 - 7000 with 4WD and sell the remainder of the car for parts for around $4000 - 5000 and the best part is the Alfa engines are pretty reliable and are let down by shoddy electrics and wafer thin structures and body panels, there are going to be loads of people out there looking for bits of wiring harness or ridiculously priced wheels so it will be a matter of a month or two to see your return

You should check out K1 Attack, Tiny Europe brand making exotic looking kit car! You can customize everything like engine, brakes, suspension etc... there has been made some with honda K engines, Audi 4.2 V8s or even turbocharged diesel four cylinder :)
