  • 3rd gen Camaro with 330 horsepower stock?? Dont think so. Highest horsepower option was the tpi 350 in the iroc z and that was 245 horsepower in the final years.

  • Also, the Muscle Car era ended in 1971-72, so while cars after could be modified, they were not 'muscle cars' brand new. 1975-79 Novas were commuter and family cars, new. "Building a muscle car", umm, that would be a Hot Rod, or Project Car, if not built originally from factory with hi performance.

    tomcat630tomcat630Prije dan
  • Some think "any 1960's RWD 2 door" is a muscle car, nope. Especially when it had only 2 barrel carb and 2 speed automatic, like many Chevys back then. A 1962 Nova with a 6 cyl. wasn't, and Chevelles with 307 2bbl and Powerglide 2 speed, were not. True Muscle Cars came from factory with a performance package, such as Chevelle SS396 or GTO with 400 ci standard.

  • The kicker to the Ford Mustang Story is that a lot of parts interchange with other cars and most people today DO NOT HAVE A F**KING CLUE ABOUT THIS!!! First generation mustangs up until the late 1970s share parts with the older Mercury Comets, Mercury Cougars, Ford Falcons and even in some cases Pintos, Bobcats and Capris! In the 1960s the suspensions on the Mercury and Ford cars I just mentioned were DIRECTLY related like axles and struts and so on! And in the later 1974 and on, the Mustang II used parts that were also directly swapped to Pinto and Bobcat cars, like clutch cables, steering racks, and even suspension parts!! I know this because I owned THREE Mustang II cars and four Ford Pintos in my life!! Further in later years (1979) when the Fox Body came out the front end parts off a Mercury Capri as well as the Ford Fairmont and the Thunderbird were ALSO swap in parts as well too!! So if you couldn't find a salvage yard front coil spring on a 1982 Fox Body Mustang YOU COULD get one off a a Thunderbird and be right back in business!! Or even get a rack steering unit out of a Mercury Zephyr which was the same car as the Ford Fairmont, because it shared the same rack as the Mustang Fox Body! The thing people seem to "NOT UNDERSTAND" is these cars were "platform built"!! And even today many people don't understand what "platform built" offers them!! At one point in the early 1960s the Ranchero was built on the Falcon Platform....so there are some Ranchero parts that DO swap to a first generation Mustang as well too!! Similarly parts off some cars are all exactly the same part number! I had a clutch cable break in my 1975 Mustang II Mach 1 and the replacement part was actually ordered for a 1971 to 1976 Ford Pinto which the person who ordered it never came to pick it up! And the same goes for the rear wheel cylinders which I learned later!!

    Greg BenwellGreg BenwellPrije dan
    • I will also add that I owned both a 1974 AND a 1975 Mustang II Mach 1 and the engine in both of those cars were the 2.8 liter V6 which was the EXACT SAME ENGINE as the Mercury Capri......again my experience here....I blow up one of these motors and the replacement engine tag on the "new" motor (salvage yard motor) read "1975 Mercury Capri" on it! So I know that these parts interchange as fact because I HAVE done work with them!!

      Greg BenwellGreg BenwellPrije dan
  • My problem is simple: What is the definition of "affordable"? Some of the folks in my area want TOP DOLLAR for junk cars that are NOT WORTH the money it would require to repair them!! In one case (I live in New York BTW) a guy was sell a 1967 Pontiac Catalina for $8000 which was WAY OVER PRICED for the amount of work the car needed to put it back on the road! And when I tried to talk him down, pointing out all the work I would have to do to the car just to make it "street legal again" his words were "try to find another one"! AND he was being totally unrealistic about what the car was actually WORTH!! And the car literally needed about another $8000 in parts and labor, just to get it running again....and that did NOT include about another $10,000 in parts and labor to make the car "worth owning" because everything including the interior was complete trashed on it!! The only "good part" to the car was.....all the glass was intact!! The floors were all rotted completely away, the motor needed a complete rebuild and the transmission slipped bad as well!! The tires were all bald and flat, the rocker panels, quarters and doors were in need of replacing. Even though it was a "good parts car" it wasn't worth his $8000 asking price and even the frame needed some attention as well!!! And lastly the car was a four door boat, and NOT a Chevelle or a Mustang or even a dime a dozen Nova! So the problem becomes the definition of "affordable"!! Because some guys think that old four door sitting behind their house is a "rare car"!! And they assume that VERY CAR is "rare"!! And that what they own is "valuable" just because it is old!! And making matters worse are these guys that think their $300 pile of scrap metal is worth $10,000 when it will take three times that to even put it back on the road!! And why would I want to dump $30,000 into a car that when I am finished is only worth $10,000 when I am done????? Sorry it doesn't work that way, and like everybody else I want a "good value for my money" and a "good return on my investment"!!

    Greg BenwellGreg BenwellPrije dan
    • Damn that sucks. A buddy of mine just paid 4000 for a running, driving 69 Pontiac Catalina here in Texas

  • I disagree with the Camaro owners dislike mustangs statement. I own a 5th gen Camaro but 1st gen mustangs just have that thing the car community needed at the time. and I want to get a 1965 or 1967 mustang. It’s no so much dislike/hate as it is competitive rivalry

  • I didn't expect the mustang to be #1 on the list. Not my favorite, but I will give ford credit for what they have done with the model. Everytime I see a mustang I say to myself: Why doesn't Chevrolet bring back the Nova or Chevelle model and be more like Dodge?

  • 3rd gen Camaros maxed out at rating of 245HP with the 5.7L, not 330HP, and that was during the last 2 years (91/92). Though that doesn't sound like much, they had 340lb-ft and could hit 0-60 under 6 sec and 1/4 mile in the 14s even lacking the aluminum heads and manual trans. And these things could handle. The hottest third gen F-bodies are the '89 Turbo Trans Am and '92 Formula Firehawk but good luck finding a Firehawk. Thanks for another entertaining video. Always funny to watch.
